Saskatchewan Mortgage Brokers – Steps

For Finding The Mortgage Broker You Need

So you’re in the market for a mortgage but you’re not sure where to find the best Saskatchewan mortgage brokers? In a profession as populated as the brokerage business it can be difficult to know who you can trust. And with a job as important as securing your mortgage, it’s important that you find the right professional. After all, getting locked into the wrong mortgage can cost you thousands of dollars, and be a serious setback both financially and personally. So how do you go about seeking helpful, sound advice from a broker you can trust? Well, here are a few tips for ensuring you end up with the best help available.

1) It can be a good strategy to begin with your friends and family. If one of your friends or a family member has recently gone through the process of acquiring a mortgage, ask them about it. Ask them who they worked with, which bank they eventually went through, how they found their mortgage broker and whether he was someone they would recommend or not. You can learn a lot just by asking after the process and doing a bit of self-educating before you begin your search.

2) If you don’t already have someone you’re thinking of trying out, go online and get a shortlist of mortgage brokers you think might work for you. Now it’s time to ask them a couple of questions. One of the first questions you can ask is, “How many different banks and credit unions do you work for?” You might also ask them to list them. This question accomplishes two things: it will tell you how respected the mortgage broker is (big banks only work with reputable brokers), how diverse their sources are (it’s important to have a mortgage broker who can find you a loan at numerous sources) and how details-oriented and quick the broker is about their business.

Lastly, it should go some way to confirming that the mortgage broker is not representing a single lending institution, and selling their products exclusively. This latter variety of mortgage broker cannot be of much use to you, as they are more salespeople than broker.

3) In the same vein, you want to make sure that your broker is independent. A good mortgage broker has access to the entire mortgage marketplace, is constantly monitoring interest rates and which bank is offering the best products at the moment—what you need is a broker who can take full advantage of the diverse marketplace, and to do that your broker needs to be independent of any one bank or credit union.

If you follow these steps, take your time, and consider all of the variables carefully, you should end up with a mortgage broker that suits you. If you’re not sure yet of your ability to find a high-quality mortgage broker, don’t worry. We’ve done research and found the best Saskatchewan mortgage brokers for you, and we’re happy to share what we know.
